Travelodge Liverpool Aigburth

Handy location, about 12 minutes from the airport. There’s a Toby carvery next door for food or a drink, plus other good options across the road. The rooms are a bit old and could use more attention to cleaning.

The location, prices, car park and customer service were all good, up until we got into the room. We booked for two and were told we’d been allocated a king-size bed, but it was smaller than that. The TVs don’t work properly either, with channels freezing and so on. I’ve stayed here a few times. The free car park is a big plus for us.

Free parking was a plus, and the location worked well for our visit, but the property really needs an upgrade. Our room faced the Toby pub and had no net curtains, so we had to keep the main curtains shut for privacy. They weren’t fitted properly either, and plenty of light came in. The mattress was poor and we kept rolling into the middle. There was peeling paint in the bathroom and an odd problem with the sink, which also smelled mouldy. It’s a very tired place, and not cheap. Such a shame, as it could be much better.

The mattress was decent, but the rest of this Travelodge felt worn out and very basic. At check-in they handed over a key and that was about it. Nobody asked about breakfast, our trip, or anything else.
