Travelodge Liverpool Central Exchange Street

The room itself was clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed, decent enough Wi-Fi, and really friendly, helpful staff. But I had several problems: I was given the wrong room at first, my key stopped working the next day, the heating was broken, and the shower pressure was poor. It wasn’t a completely awful stay, but it’s put me off Travelodge. I might stick with Premier Inn from now on.

Nicola at reception made a big difference. She explained that a problem with the door lock meant I couldn’t have the Super Room I’d booked, and checked that I was happy to take a basic room instead. She was so friendly and professional that I might have written a very different review otherwise. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. My friend and I had a brilliant two-night stay last week. The staff were so welcoming and helpful that by the end we felt like we’d known them for years. The food was good, and the bar stayed open all night, so there were always refreshments. We’ll be back, and can’t wait. Mary Poppins at the Empire theatre was brilliant! The place was clean and central, but I found it so depressing. My window was filthy and looked out on an awful view. The room had no coat hooks, and just USB ports by the bed, no plug sockets or USB-C. The bedside nook was too tiny even for a phone, so, as usual at Travelodge, I dragged a chair over to use as a table. The bed creaked at the slightest movement. I was already annoyed in the cafe bar because staff only appeared after you called out loudly several times. Dinner was beige and brown food on beige and brown furniture in a beige and brown room, under fluorescent lights, with Dido playing overhead. Just depressing.
