Trivelles Seaforth

For just £37, I expected a pretty rough place, maybe even a dirty room without its own bathroom, so the welcome was a real surprise. The man who checked me in was lovely and offered chocolates. My room was large, with a clean double bed, microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom was cleaned well enough, and there was soap and nice smelling stuff for washing and showering. The decor’s a little dated, but at that price I can’t complain. I’ll come back.

The rooms could use new curtains, and anyone with mobility problems should ask for a ground floor room since there are stairs upstairs. Handrails would help. Our two rooms were basic but clean and comfortable, and we felt they were good value for two double rooms over two nights. There was tea and coffee, a microwave and a mini fridge in each room. We arrived early and were given a warm, friendly welcome and our rooms.

I was left to find somewhere else to stay and they’re now refusing to refund me. I’d booked two nights, arrived before check-in, and found reception already closed with nobody there to let me in. No one picked up the phone either. Beware, this feels like a scam.

A practical, affordable place for a night or two near Liverpool. The neighbourhood is quiet and public transport is close by. The rooms are simple and have the basics, with nothing fancy, and the staff are polite, although service can be limited. It works for a short stay.
