We were camping at Shell Island and came across this delightful pub at the end of the road. We’re so glad we found it. They found us a spot where our big dog wouldn’t get overstimulated, and the staff were attentive from the start. We ordered Sunday lunch, a large lamb dinner for me and a small beef one for my wife. Both portions were generous, even the small one, and the meat and vegetables were beautifully cooked. Do add the cauliflower cheese, it was top notch. The bar had plenty of drink options too. It’s only a short walk from Shell Island camping. Five star venue and food, and they couldn’t have made the experience any better. We’ll be back next time we visit Shell Island. Thanks to everyone at The Victoria Inn, you did yourselves proud!

We first came three weeks ago and enjoyed Sunday lunch, though it was a little expensive. We were in the area visiting our son, so went back for lunch on the bank holiday Monday. This time the regular menu wasn’t at the same standard. The battered sole was a generous portion but nothing special. The steak pie was okay, though salty enough that I kept drinking water the rest of the day, and it wasn’t worth £17.50. I’ve had gorgeous lamb with rice, naan and a good portion of salad at Persian and Mediterranean restaurants for £19.50, so frozen chips with an okay but salty pie for £17.50 was disappointing. The chilli was acceptable, but at £16.50 it wasn’t worth the price. It was an okay pub meal, but felt overpriced for the quality. We’d return for Sunday lunch, just not on other days. Maybe I’m more used to good home cooking with good flavours. I don’t quite understand the reviews calling the food high quality.

The outdoor area was lovely and worth the trip on its own, and the staff were really friendly. We both ordered burgers and enjoyed the food, though the buns were a little dry. We’ll definitely visit again.

The staff were really pleasant and quick, and the few vegetarian dishes were delicious 😋 I’d been here for food last year and left because it felt unfriendly, so I’m glad I gave it another try. Top marks.

The pudding was gorgeous, and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch. We ordered food and drinks at the bar, then the food was brought to our table. Service was exemplary, and they were very accommodating with our two dogs, giving us a slightly larger table so they could settle comfortably.
