The views of the town from the windows were lovely, and you could easily people-watch all day. The bedding and towels were clean, and the location was handy for the beach and places to eat or be entertained. But there were serious problems in Apartment 4. It’s up seven sets of stairs. The dining table wobbled so much you couldn’t eat at it, the living room lights didn’t work, and the walls and bedside table were damaged, with stains on the walls. The bathroom lock was a metal straw. Its window didn’t seem properly fitted and would not close. The shower was temperamental, with what looked like mold or black staining around the sealant. The cutlery and cups were filthy, so I had to wash the few things I felt comfortable using. The Wi-Fi code in the email was wrong. The sea view is from just one window, the tall one at the back of the bedroom; the other windows look out over the town below.

Flat 5 had all the amenities we needed, though the apartment looked a bit tired. We weren’t in it much during the day. Getting up to the apartments means tackling quite a lot of very steep stairs. The windows aren’t soundproof and need a good bang to shut. On the plus side, it’s very close to the beach, shops and restaurants, with a bus stop right outside for trips to Rhyl or Conwy Bay.

At Brooklyn No. 5, the room was in a filthy and badly run-down state. There was no toilet paper, tea or coffee, and the sofas were filthy while the mattress was dilapidated. The climb to the top floor was hard work too. I haven’t even spent a night and am literally looking for another hotel. I strongly advise avoiding this place.

Apartment 1 is a maisonette with one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms, and it had everything needed for a comfortable stay, though there was no hairdryer, so bring your own. The location is very central, ideal for the beach, shops and restaurants. Getting luggage in was challenging: there’s a quite steep staircase at the entrance, then more narrow stairs up to the apartment. It wouldn’t be good for anyone with mobility issues. I’d recommend these apartments for their comfort and central location.

The apartment was clean, spacious and lovely, within easy walking distance of the beach and pier, with beautiful views of the Orme. The building’s age and style mean there are about four fairly steep flights of stairs to reach it, so that could be a problem if stairs are difficult for you.
