Hatfield House

The Hatfield is on a quiet street, handy for the station, local amenities, and buses that took us around this part of Wales. Simon met us at the train station and gave us a very warm welcome, explaining everything clearly. Our room was fine and cleaned daily, with tea, coffee, water, and biscuits replenished. Lyn took great care of us at breakfast, serving it hot and keeping the teapot topped up. There was plenty of choice, too. Excellent value, and we'll stay again next time we're in beautiful Wales.

The gentleman was friendly and welcoming at first. Things changed at breakfast when we asked his wife how it would be served. She answered in a way I found shockingly rude, both in how she spoke and in her facial expressions. Another gentleman I don't know personally made the same comment about her, so I suspect he had a similar experience after we left. I decided not to eat there and had breakfast in the town centre instead. When I said I would write about what happened in feedback, she replied, “I don’t care I am the owner of the place”.

Simon seemed very pleasant, but his wife was abrupt and rude. I think this may be the wrong business for her. A visit to Specsavers might help too.

We had a really pleasant weekend, and staying at Hatfield House made it even better. The welcome was warm and the food was excellent.
