Iris Hotel

We had a good-sized, very clean room with a sea view, which was a nice bonus, and the continental breakfast included in the price was lovely. The only improvement I could see was double glazing. I'm not sure about all the rooms, but the fourth-floor windows are single glazed, so I took off a star. Good value for money overall, and I'd come back.

The location was great and breakfast was fine, but our room was in a separate building behind the hotel. It was cramped and far too hot all night because the heater couldn't be controlled. The windows were stuck shut, so we couldn't open them. I would have had a good experience if we'd been assigned a room in the actual hotel. Nowhere did it say that some rooms would be outside the main building.

I stayed four nights in room 406 at Iris Hotel in Llandudno, and it was very disappointing. There was a large gap beneath the door, so sounds from inside carried outside and there was no privacy. The room was in poor condition, with a broken sliding wardrobe door, and it wasn't very accessible. The heaters didn't work. I complained at reception, but nothing was done, which made the stay uncomfortable. Breakfast was also far below expectations, with very few choices: eggs, cornflakes, milk, bread, yoghurt and two kinds of juice. The hotel didn't meet basic standards for comfort or service, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Guests were told to leave the hotel by the following morning because of what I felt were poor management decisions. The news came in individual letters delivered to each room, and I shared a copy in the photos. The staff's service was extremely disappointing, and they behaved rudely and unprofessionally. On entering the rooms, there was a strong, stinging smell that made it hard to breathe. The carpets were damp, and visible mould raised serious concerns for me about cleanliness and hygiene. The whole experience was very unsatisfactory, and I wouldn't recommend the property.
