Bridge End Hotel

The food and service were excellent, and the red wine was very good quality. This freshly refurbished hotel was a great find. Parking is a couple of minutes' walk away and costs £4 a day. Paying through the app seemed easiest.

We had dinner at the hotel, with great service and very reasonable prices, then a lovely breakfast the next morning that was included in our rate. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Although it's on a main road, the traffic didn't disturb us. Check-in was simple, though we did have to wait because it was a busy Saturday night. There was no parking at the hotel, so we parked down the road for £4 for the day. I'd happily stay again and recommend it to others.

We booked a 5pm table because we had a small toddler with us and needed to be home for bedtime. The starters came fairly quickly, but the mains took more than 1 hour and 20 minutes. While we waited, several tables who'd arrived later were served before us. When we asked, the waiter said the food was “being dished up,” but we then waited another 20 minutes. By the time it arrived, the food was lukewarm and seemed to have been sitting around. It wasn't enjoyable and certainly wasn't worth that wait. We complained and were offered free desserts, which felt insulting in the circumstances. With an exhausted toddler, we couldn't stay any longer. This was some of the worst service we've had, with poor organisation, communication and food. We won't return or recommend it, especially to families.

The main bar had live music from a singer, and there was a good choice of beers, ciders, ales and spirits. We came for a 40th birthday meal and really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. The place was clean and tidy, and looks good after its recent refurbishment.
