Rose Cottage Dutlas

You can really switch off here, and walkers have endless trails to choose from. The Radnorshire Arms is about a two-minute drive away, with a varied menu and good food. The garden runs down to a stream, with cows and sheep grazing in the distance. Rose Cottage itself is clean, modern, comfortable, and well equipped, in a beautiful, peaceful part of Mid Wales. We could watch all sorts of birds come to feed from the kitchen window or while sitting on the balcony. Definitely recommended!

We had such a good time at Rose Cottage that we’re already thinking about another visit. It’s in a central spot, with lovely walks nearby, and the guide in the cottage was useful for finding them. Marje greeted us with homemade cakes and tea, and we got to meet all the animals. The cottage felt like home, and John stopped by to say hello and suggest places to eat and visit. We still get a Christmas email from Marje and John, which is a lovely touch.

The children had a great time exploring the garden and playing there. Our youngest especially liked topping up the bird feeders and watching the birds arrive, as well as spotting the cows in the opposite field. Marje and John were very welcoming when we collected the keys. It’s a lovely, cosy cottage and well worth a stay.

The garden is securely enclosed, which made it ideal for our dog, and the area is a treat for nature lovers, especially anyone who enjoys watching birds and sheep. There are plenty of places to visit a short drive away, including Elan Valley and Ludlow Castle. We were two couples travelling with a dog, and though the Easter weather was disappointing, Rose Cottage exceeded our expectations. It’s an inviting, cosy little house, tastefully done, well maintained, and environmentally friendly, with a mesmerising view from the back room. The kitchen was better equipped than my own at home. The owners were friendly and very hospitable, and being active online made booking easy and getting answers to our questions quick.
