Glenachulish Bay with Hot Tub

The feature room was huge and comfortable, with a view over the loch and bridge. We loved the William Morris wallpapers throughout and relaxing by the woodburning stove in the lounge. The staff were all friendly and helpful. One of the men in the bar knew a great deal about whisky and other alcohol and was happy to answer questions. There’s lovely scenery over the loch and mountains from the restaurant. I thought the food was somewhat overpriced, but it was very tasty, so that wasn’t a big downside. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. Fabulous location and a lovely hotel. Thank you, Ballachulish Hotel.

Our room was fine, and the coffee and tea station was a welcome touch. The taps ran very slowly, though, and the bath could do with an upgrade. The hotel has a grand look but needs updating, and there’s an old smell inside. It’s dark, and the central staircase creaks loudly even if you tread softly. There’s no lift, so guests are expected to carry their own luggage upstairs. No one offered to help, which was really disappointing.

We had a fantastic time on the Christmas package. The hotel view is something else, and the food was amazing, both dinner and breakfast. The rooms are on the small side compared with some other places, but that wasn’t a big problem. They were clean and comfortable. No complaints, I’d recommend staying here anytime.

The hotel is well placed, with Oban, Fort William and Glencoe all easy to reach, and the views are lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast, with an excellent range of choices for different tastes. There was a lovely surprise at dinner for my birthday, too. Thanks for the thoughtful touch.
