Glencoe Independent Hostel

We loved spending New Year's here and plan to return next year. The pub was a lovely 20-minute walk away for celebrating. The pod's heating was great, but the bathroom was very cold and the boiler switched off partway through showers.

The views across the hills were lovely, especially with a light dusting of snow still on the tops, and being able to walk to the Clachaig in the evening was a bonus. The caravan was spotless and extremely well equipped, with lots of local information. Staff checked in when we arrived to see if anything was wrong. The only supposed disappointment was that the “feral children” mentioned on the sign turned out to be lovely. We'd highly recommend the place and will definitely return.

I stayed in a log cabin and loved the rustic feel. Having my own kitchen, being somewhere isolated with few people around, and having access to a dry room were exactly what I wanted, especially since I kept hiking in the rain. The property managers were very helpful with my laundry request, for an extra charge. This was my best lodging experience in the Highlands and the best decision I've made. The other places look a bit more modern, so I might try one next year, but I have no complaints.

A second outdoor seat on the patio would be my only suggestion. We stayed in a caravan for two nights, and it was spotless on arrival, with everything we needed well equipped inside. The makeup towels were a thoughtful extra. The site is in a beautiful spot, we had a great time, and we'd definitely come back.
