We’ll return. The staff were friendly and professional, and the manager was very pleasant. We first asked for a takeaway, but she kindly explained that they couldn’t manage that during busy periods and was very apologetic. We stayed for vegetable soup and cheesy chips instead, which were delicious and just what we needed. It pays to be kind and respectful to the staff at small places like this. They do a great job and provide the best service they can, often for low pay.

The shark toilet was such a fun, unusual idea, and we didn’t mind paying a small fee to use it. We only popped in yesterday while out exploring, but the place was spotless and everyone was so welcoming. The woman who greeted us was especially lovely, though I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name. We’re already looking forward to coming back for food or cake next time we’re nearby.

We’ve been meaning to try Golden Larches for ages since we live nearby, and finally going was well worth it. The Saturday welcome was warm, and our soup and toastie made a lovely lunch. The scone and chocolate fudge cake afterwards were the real highlights: one of the best scones I’ve had, and the cake was right up there too. The shark toilet is great as well. Highly recommend!

The cakes alone would make me want to return. The carrot cake and the Bakewell sponge pudding with custard were both amazing. We’d come in for lunch after a nearby walk, and the soup, toasties and loaded chips were tasty with generous portions. There were six of us, and the service was brilliant from arrival right through to leaving. I’m Scottish and was with four English friends and one French friend, and this cafe does our country proud. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We were glad we stopped on the drive from Edinburgh to Glencoe. The people inside were incredibly kind, and the staff were so friendly. We also had some of the best sweets and baked goods. They even helped us plan a few must-see stops for our Scotland road trip. We’d been curious about the world-famous shark toilet sign, so that was what brought us in. Definitely a great place to stop if you’re in the area.
