Starfish Lodge is right by the sea, with stunning views over the Inner Hebrides and the Corryvreckan Whirlpool. We spent three weeks there and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Every day, we saw sea otters hunting for fish and various birds on the terrace. There are plenty of chances for hiking and horseback riding nearby too. Johanna and staff gave excellent service. Highly recommended.

The location and accommodation were amazing and ideal for what we wanted. A few small additions would have helped: some throws or spare blankets would’ve been handy when my dog wouldn’t settle and I lay on the sofa for a while. There weren’t any to make it more comfortable. Paying separately for electricity was a little stressful, since it’s hard to judge how much you’ll need, and the water heater for showers or baths uses it quickly. We bought an additional £20 to make sure we had enough, but still tried to be careful with the hot water.

We’ve been back to the lodge more than once. It’s cosy and well equipped, and sits right beside the loch, with a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. The people staying next door before us said they saw otters every day. We didn’t see any, sadly, though it sounds like it’s possible.

We watched dolphins swimming while we ate breakfast, looking out across the garden towards the sea and distant islands. Shore cottage is in a superb spot, and Lunga estate is both peaceful and beautiful. It made for a lovely, relaxing week.

The sunsets, quiet fishing, water access and views all the way to the Paps of Jura are why I love staying here. The accommodation is great value, and they kindly leave you to enjoy your stay. This is where I choose to stay when I return home to the Scottish west coast. Thanks again.
