Springkell

The food was delicious at every point, from breakfast to the wedding breakfast and evening food. So many of our guests mentioned how good it all was. The staff helped make the weekend unforgettable. Jen was there for us throughout, always kind and smiling, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Fiona was wonderful in the lead-up and kept everything running smoothly. The bar and serving staff were friendly and welcoming with all our guests. We fell for Springkell as soon as we visited it, the first wedding venue we saw. The house, cottages, beautiful grounds and friendly goats made it feel special straight away. Our weekend was magical, and the wedding day felt like a dream. We honestly can’t think of a single flaw. Thank you all for making it so special. We can’t wait to return for our first anniversary! 😊

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the property itself is stunning. Our room was tidy and nicely decorated, with a lovely new bathroom. It was a lovely stay overall, thanks for having us. Breakfast was the disappointing part. The dining room was three-quarters empty and completely silent, so it felt awkward and we ended up whispering. Some buffet items were available along with two cooked breakfast choices, but I’d have liked the self-service food to be arranged attractively in the middle of the room. A self-service toaster would also mean warm toast, since food took a while to come from the kitchen at the far end of the hall. The entryway is incredibly beautiful, but could use a bit more atmosphere and music, plus simple signs for each of the downstairs rooms. It just needs that last 10%.

The location and staff were both very nice, and the food was excellent. The chef was great too. There were a few times when attention to detail was lacking, which is why I’ve given four stars. At £192.00 a night, I think excellence is fair to expect across the board. That said, I’d still say go. It’s a quirky treat you’ll enjoy.

Springkell was a magical place for our weekend with 37 guests. The estate and grounds are stunning, with so much history and character. James, the owner, and Fiona, who works closely with him, were both a pleasure to deal with and incredibly helpful throughout. We all had an amazing time, and I’d recommend Springkell wholeheartedly.
