The staff were polite and helpful with everyday things like fresh towels, shower gel, and taking out the rubbish. I stayed for a week, and the place was decent, close to Notting Hill station, and the team let me leave my luggage after checkout for my late flight, up to a certain time.

The staff were pleasant, and the bed was okay. The shower and toilet worked fine, but the rooms were extremely small and badly in need of an upgrade. There was a trench cut into the floor to let people move between rooms. We were offered a fourth-floor room, which was a big problem for us in our 70s with limited mobility, as there was no lift. The one real advantage is the location, just three minutes from the Underground and buses. For the same price, there are much better places to stay. I wouldn't recommend it.
The location is fantastic, right in the heart of London, and I never needed to get a taxi. It was a cosy, comfortable place to stay, with lovely staff. There's no breakfast, but there are lots of good cafés nearby and around Portobello. My room had a nice balcony where I could sit in the morning. I’d happily recommend it if you want somewhere cosy.
We slept well in a quiet, clean room with a comfortable bed, and it had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful, so check-in and the rest of the visit went smoothly. Notting Hill Gate Hotel is right by the tube, with shops, cafés, central London, and attractions easy to reach. Great value, and we’d gladly stay again or recommend it to anyone visiting London.
We booked two nights for £226, but left first thing the next morning and found another hotel. We arrived late with our three children and couldn't arrange somewhere else that night. The room felt unhygienic and unsafe: pest boxes lined the stairs, the curtains were coming down and wouldn't close, the window wouldn't lock, the beds felt like camp beds, bathroom tiles were broken and my daughter fell on them, the shower door was off its tracks, and there was a strong urine smell. The tiny TV didn't work either. Location was the only good thing. The hotel wouldn't refund the unused night, and Booking.com wasn't helpful. It's a disgrace, and I hope people see this before booking.
