At £55, the four-course menu with two side dishes was extremely generous and great value. It also came with canapés, snacks, a double portion of bread with hollandaise and butter, and petit fours. You can get this menu between 5:30-6:30, Saturdays included. Portland has kept its Michelin star for over 10 years, and it’s easy to see why. This was an early dinner featuring classic dishes from the restaurant’s first ten years. Each plate was impressive, with fine produce cooked precisely and with a high level of technique. Everything was flavoursome and beautifully presented. The service from Cora and the young team was warm and personable, and helped bring each dish to life. Another big wow. People say I always post positive reviews of places we’ve eaten, and I like to think that’s because we make great choices. We’ve already booked to return in a few weeks for the next monthly menu. A superb experience, hugely recommended.
The panna cotta was one of the highlights for me. I’d never had one quite like it, and the rhubarb and pistachio gave a lovely crunch alongside the soft texture. A must try. I had the hand-dived scallop tartare, Guinea fowl agnolotti, sirloin of beef and buttermilk panna cotta, and everything was brilliant. Before I left, they brought me two petit fours, which was a lovely surprise. I was in a bit of a rush to catch a train. The staff were kind and happy to answer my questions about the dishes and possible pairings. They checked whether I still wanted to sit at the counter, and offered me a table if I preferred. I stayed at the counter, right at the front by the entrance and large windows, a nice spot for people-watching while eating or waiting. As a solo diner, I’d picked that option when booking. You can choose a counter or table, and it’s easy to book or change your timing in the OpenTable app. I’d recommend booking a slot ahead as it may get busy. The website has the menus too, so you can get a sense of what to expect. As more guests arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and lively, just right for a restaurant. The venue was bright and clean, with no hygiene issues. I had no complaints about the service or the food. The whole visit was meticulously done, with no glaring problems. Would I go again? Absolutely. I’d happily eat here again if I were back for a meeting, lunch, a special occasion, or friends suggested it. London has a lot of great, varied restaurants, though, and I still have plenty on my list to try first. Thank you :)
My wife and I went to Portland for our anniversary. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff went above and beyond, giving us a card signed by everyone and homemade biscuits to mark the occasion. With tasting menus, you can wonder whether there’ll be enough food, but the portions here were generous and you won’t leave hungry. We’d thoroughly recommend Portland and will definitely be back.
Those little birthday surprises from the staff made our early dinner feel especially nice. The food was delicious, and I especially loved the chicken wings and macarons.
I first came here on a whim in 2022 and had such a lovely evening that I promised myself I'd return. It took me until 2026, but I finally brought my mother and sister for the 14:15 tasting menu, the last afternoon slot. My mum can walk a little but needs wheelchair support, and the team were wonderful: they spotted us outside, greeted us as we arrived, and set us up at an easy access table. Everyone up front was friendly and happy to answer our questions. The chefs were on form too. I'll always remember the cheese mille-feuille with Gorgonzola custard and truffles. It was an absolute disgrace to the cardiovascular system, but I salute the kitchen. You only live once. Go here. It's one of the best, and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
