Belvedere Hotel

The shower and bathroom were good, and the place was okay overall. There are just two power outlets across the bed, which is inconvenient, and there was no microwave or mini fridge. The station and bus stop aren't too far away, though the big attractions aren't nearby.

The staff were lovely, and the location worked well for me. I stayed in room one in the basement, though, and it was in really poor condition, with marked walls and a strong damp smell. You can feel the Underground running below; that didn’t bother me much, but the room itself did. It was cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. For more than one night I’d have asked to move. Set your expectations accordingly, and try for an upstairs room, the photos looked much nicer.

I’ve stayed twice and the staff have been great. There are cafes, restaurants and shops nearby, buses only a few metres away, and Paddington station is an easy walk even with luggage. I booked a smaller room and got what I expected: it had what I needed and was warm and comfortable in winter. Breakfast is very good value. Just bear in mind there’s no lift, and the stairs get steeper on the top floor if mobility is an issue. I’ll come back next time.

Really handy for Paddington Station and the stop for the hop-on hop-off London bus tour. The staff are available around the clock and were helpful when I needed to work out the buses. It’s a small, clean hotel at a reasonable price, with nice restaurants close by. Breakfast is freshly cooked, but you pay extra for it.
