For the price, breakfast was included, and the transport links make getting to the business areas around Oxford and Regent Roads convenient by bus or Underground. Hyde Park is a five-minute walk away. It's a useful location, and the rate seems to reflect what you get. The room, though, was tiny, around a hundred square feet, and cramped for three guests. There was barely space to change or bathe, and moving around was difficult. The restroom door was so transparent you could see through it while it was in use. The Brunel Hotel is a three-star property at the corner of Craven Road and Gloucester Road in Paddington. The building looks recently renovated, with a smart exterior and an elegant reception decorated with sofas and warm pale yellow lighting.

The hotel is well placed near the Metro and train station, but the room was very small and the shower cubicle was barely big enough for a child. Its door was damaged, and there was only a fixed ceiling shower with no hand hose. The windows didn't seal, so street noise and cold air came in, and the heating wasn't working. Breakfast was minimal and served in a very small dining room, where we had to queue for a table.

The location was okay, with a couple of Metro stations nearby. The room itself was tiny, too hot, and had nowhere to put our luggage. There was no A/C, just an ineffective fan. For a family room, paying over €200 a night felt like poor value. On the first night the electricity seemed to be off. It wasn't fixed until the next afternoon, and there was no communication about it. The following day we weren't allowed to use the toilet. Staff communicated poorly, if at all, and didn't apologise.

When we asked for a complaint form, staff wouldn't give us one and said to email the manager, who wasn't at the hotel. We've tried to get a response for over a week and have heard nothing, and there's been no compensation. We also reported the issue through Booking, but nothing has happened. The staff handled it very unprofessionally. We were five friends in London for a couple of nights. At arrival, we waited over an hour because the ceiling was leaking in our room for five. Eventually they put us in two rooms, one for three people and one for two. The next day staff said the leak was fixed and they'd move our luggage back to the original room. When we returned that night, we asked to stay in the rooms we had because the ceiling didn't look safe, but they insisted it had been repaired and refused. The following morning, one friend woke up soaked, with water dripping onto his bed. It was brown and smelled bad, and he had dirty water falling on his head. The manager, if you read this, we're still waiting for your reply. Please don't stay at the Brunel Hotel.

Within an hour of checking into room 005 on the ground floor, I saw several cockroaches scurrying across the floor. I'd already been unhappy with the cramped, smelly room, its holes and dents in the walls and bathroom door, and the general feeling of dust and filth. The cockroaches were the last straw. I spoke to the front desk, but the man seemed completely uninterested in refunding me. He kept urging me to stay, offering to find another room, and said management would look into my room in the morning. He wouldn't give me his name or any confirmation of our conversation, and refused a refund. I booked a nearby hotel for much more money because I wasn't staying at Brunel another moment. I've submitted a chargeback with my credit card. This place is a dump. I had booked the single room for the night of 16 December 2025.
