Cromwell International Hotel

We found the mattress extremely hard, but it was manageable for one night. The room itself was simple and clean, the shower was surprisingly good, and the staff were friendly throughout. For the price, being close to Gloucester Road station was a real plus. It made getting around easy, and the area was a great place to stay without spending a fortune. This isn't a luxury hotel, and there are nicer places in London, but it does the job well as an affordable base. If you're after five-star facilities, you may be disappointed. For what I paid, I'd happily come back.

The location is the only good thing about this place. We booked six months ago when the reviews were good, but by the time we checked, they were bad, and we had a bad stay too. On the first night there was a brown stain on the sheets, the kind you think it is. We went to reception, and they changed just one sheet without even apologizing. Later we found long black hairs in the bedding, even though neither of us has that kind of hair. We expected another room or some compensation, but got no apology then either. We only had two towels, which made it awkward to dry our hair. The next day we got more, then they disappeared again. The bathroom was never cleaned. I don't mind if the shower glass isn't cleaned, but the drain clogged by the end of the stay and the water almost overflowed into the room. The room was very small, the walls were super thin, and there was noise late into the night. At checkout, they asked how our stay had been. When we mentioned the stained sheets, the receptionist didn't know about it and said he was new. He did apologize and acknowledged it shouldn't have happened, but that was all. Really disappointing. I don't know what changed over the last few months, but this place has gone very downhill. I don't recommend it at all.

The only issue was water sometimes collecting around the handles under the sink. Otherwise, I'd book again. The room was clean, and the bed was nicely made whenever I came back. Staff were very friendly and gave me useful directions and tips. The shower was lovely, and when I ran out, they brought more shampoo and soap.

We've been here four days, and the room has been dirty every day despite several complaints to reception. The beds weren't made, hair was all over the floors, the bins were overflowing, the bathroom hadn't been touched, and the sheets weren't changed once. We even found blood stains on the bedsheets, which is disgusting and a serious hygiene risk. No one made a serious effort to put things right. The staff ignored our concerns and showed no professionalism, care, or responsibility. This feels like a complete lack of respect for guests who are paying to stay here. A smile at the front desk doesn't make up for the neglect and filth. Dirty, unprofessional, unacceptable. Absolutely disgraceful. We'll never return, and we'd strongly advise others to stay away.
