Days Inn by Wyndham London Hyde Park

After a meal, there’s a peaceful little green space just one street over where you can stroll along the path. The hotel was very clean, and housekeeping did an amazing job. Our room was small but suited us perfectly. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There’s also a small bar at the front desk where you can buy beer, wine, soda, or shots.

The staff were lovely, and the location was awesome. We slept well on the comfortable beds, and the hotel was quiet at night, which was a real plus after staying in some very noisy places. The shower had great pressure, too. The room key kept acting up and wouldn’t always let us in. Also, the latch on the door between the bathroom hall and bedroom was faulty, so we couldn’t keep that door open.

I booked a week here for a business trip, and things were fine until checkout morning. At exactly 11:00 a.m., the front desk called to tell me to leave the room. I was unwell and said I needed a little more time. Ten minutes later, while I was in the shower, they were calling and knocking again. Then, to my shock, Komini opened the door and came into my room. In three decades of travelling around the world, I’ve never experienced anything like this. There’s no excuse for hotel staff barging into a guest’s room. Komini has no business in hospitality and should be fired immediately. I doubt they would have behaved this way toward someone white. For a country like the UK, where safety and discrimination laws are in place, this is unbelievable.

For an airport stopover, the location is the main draw. The Days Inn near Paddington is very convenient for getting to or from the airport. I came from Gatwick and my Uber found it easily. The entrance was confusing at first, with boxes around some of the doors, but it’s the first door on the left. The area is very accessible, and the hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable for a budget stay. Getting to the room was a bit awkward. From the lifts, you go up a level and then down some narrow stairs, or take the stairs directly. That’s not ideal with a suitcase. I also saw random supplies left around, including a vacuum on one landing and bags on another, which made the place feel a little untidy. The room was simple, clean, and comfortable, as expected for the price. The bathroom was a good size and easy to use, especially the shower. There aren’t any amenities like a gym or restaurant, and there isn’t much floor space. It was fine for one night, although the room was so compact I couldn’t open my suitcase on the floor. Fortunately, mine had two double beds, so I put my luggage on one. It’s not fancy, but it does what you need for a one-night airport stop. If you’re after luxury, this isn’t the place. For a budget-friendly night in a convenient location, it delivers what you pay for.
