Dean Court Hotel

I booked at the last minute because this was the cheapest option in the area, and it was awful. There was no hot water in the shared bathroom, and my room had no heating, so it got cold at night. The worst part was being woken by bedbugs. I had terrible marks on my skin, and the bed was filthy enough to have insects nesting in it. I doubt management will look into these problems. I’d recommend finding a hostel or paying more for somewhere nicer. I spent the whole night awake, either because of the cold or the bugs.

It was fine for the price. I didn’t run into the problems other reviewers mentioned, though there were lots of laundry bags stacked in the corridors. The bedroom was simple but sufficient, and the bathroom looked like it had been decorated fairly recently. Breakfast was much the same.

The reception woman, who I think is Moroccan, was exceptionally nice and made breakfast for us. The hotel is fine for a night, and they still manage with keys even though there’s no automatic card lock for the doors. The toilet is so cramped you can barely turn around, and the shower has the same problem. My experience was... okay.

We came to London with our two children for a family trip and wanted somewhere basic for one night. This was worse than a hostel. Honestly, I’d rather have camped, at least my tent would’ve been clean. The place was disgusting: rotten skirting boards, flaking paint, mouse bait boxes everywhere, a cold and dirty shower, and no staff around to talk to if you had a problem. We didn’t stay for breakfast because everything felt so unclean. We couldn’t find anyone to speak with, so we contacted the hotel afterwards. They were unhelpful and actually very rude. Stay at your own risk. It’s worth paying a bit more to go somewhere else.
