Eden Plaza Kensington Hotel

The room I stayed in was more than adequate, and the location was very nice, near several museums, including the Science Museum, my favourite. There was a shower and complimentary shower gel for washing up, and the cleaning staff were friendly. The downside was having no kitchen, though that makes sense since it's not an apartment.

The hotel was lovely and exceptionally clean, with very friendly staff. It's opposite the Natural History Museum, close to shops and the tube, and would suit a couple of nights. The rooms are very small and the walls thin, so we could hear our neighbours' conversations. We skipped the continental breakfast because it was an extra £10, which seems standard for London. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and we'd return.

The only reason I took a star off was being kept awake from 2 to 4 am by a family. It wasn't a big deal, but the hotel should keep business guests, who get up early, apart from holidaymakers or other guests. Otherwise, this is a splendid, well-run hotel with brilliant staff, an immaculate room and an ideal area. I've worked around the world for 18 years and stayed in hundreds of hotels, and I can honestly say I've never had such a bargain for what I paid. I was due to move last week, but I've extended my stay as long as possible.

The staff were friendly, and the location and price were good. We got fresh towels each day and the room was clean, with a very modern little shower and toilet. The problem was the size: the room was tiny, and the double bed barely fit. A bigger bed would have earned more stars.
