The TV was there, though it wasn’t positioned so I could watch it from bed, and the room wasn’t as noisy as I expected. Still, I came in with low expectations after reading reviews saying you get what you pay for. At £55 for one night, I at least expected things to be clean. My sheets smelled terribly damp, and even though I usually run hot, I shivered through the night and had to sleep in layers. I wouldn’t recommend this as anything more than a roof over your head.

It was really hot while we were there, so we had to leave the windows open onto the main road and got lots of noise. The manager put a fan in our room without us even asking, which was a nice result. The room was okay but needed some TLC. Having a hob and microwave was a bonus, and it was fine for a few nights.

The room was warm and spacious, and the location was convenient for restaurants and transport. But there was grime in the bathroom corners, fruit flies in both the kitchen area and bathroom, and an awful smell in the room. We hadn’t brought food into the room or used the kitchen. There’s no elevator, and hauling our suitcases was hard. Nobody was at reception to help. I guess you get what you pay for, although other places nearby weren’t much more expensive. Never again.

The room is always stocked with tissues, tea and biscuits, which is all you need for the price. Check-in and checkout are easy every time, and the man at reception is always friendly and quick to help.

It’s affordable and convenient, and I’ve never had noise or anyone disturbing me while I sleep. Staff ask each morning if I need the basics. It’s been a good experience.
