St H.
I spent a sleepless night in the room I was given, with noise and light making it feel like sleep deprivation torture. The window insulation was poor, cars passing outside got up to 50db, headlights flashed in, and people shouted. Trash bins right outside the windows brought noise from people throwing garbage out early in the morning. The blinds were broken and fell on me. The closet and shower were broken, and there was mould. Check the pictures. I had chosen a Standard Studio that I understood wouldn't face the busy street. The listing showed several Standard Studios with distinct sets of features, and the pictures weren't mixed together. There was also a slight difference in price when I booked. Before choosing, I checked the room options and the building features. The bay windows appeared to indicate street-facing rooms, and I couldn't see how the second Standard Studio type could face the street because its bathroom extended the building, a few steps down. I booked the option with two bedside tables, a bigger bathroom, and extra surfaces and windows in the bathroom. The booking confirmation showed the pictures for just one room type, which reinforced my understanding of what I'd booked. Even if the photos were of a sample room, I wouldn't expect such different features or the risk of a lower ground floor room. Booking.com recognized some responsibility and gave me £100 as a goodwill gesture, but the property ignores the evidence and says it's my fault I was misled. They ignored both guests and Booking.com, then were quite aggressive in communication when they finally replied.
