Golden Star Hotel

We had to leave straight away and book another hotel during our trip. The room was uninhabitable and nothing like the listing photos: black mould in the bathroom, heavy damp, a terrible smell, wet carpets, and no working bathroom light. They first confirmed a refund, then refused it. We have photos and videos of the room's actual condition. If you're willing to risk your health, stay here. Avoid this place.

We were left frightened for our safety, and what happened was humiliating, physically aggressive and traumatic. A stay that should have been peaceful became terrifying and degrading. We want a full refund and a serious review of the incident so this doesn't happen to other guests. We arrived five minutes before check-in ended, only to find our room had already been given to someone else. With no alternative, we went back to the airport and spent the night there. When we returned the next day, they gave us a completely different room in terrible condition. The bathroom was broken, the toilet wouldn't flush, and the shower temperature couldn't be controlled. We asked for another room or a refund, and things turned chaotic. A staff member vanished for more than an hour, then came back with a man who called himself the “manager”. He was aggressive, refused to be flexible, shouted and ordered us to leave immediately. My friend went upstairs to get her phone and call the police, and he shoved her. When I tried to stop him following her, he pushed me too. I rushed upstairs, got past him and locked us in the room. We called the police while he pounded on the door and yelled at us to get out. We stayed inside until the police arrived about 40 minutes later and escorted us out. It was around 4:20 p.m. by then, and we had to pay for somewhere else to stay, losing the whole booking, not just one night. The money wasn't the only harm. We were humiliated, physically assaulted and psychologically traumatised.

We were worried after reading the reviews, but had already booked, so we brought bedsheets and extra money in case we needed another place. Thankfully, we got a clean room with a queen-size bed at the back of the hotel. They also let us leave our luggage while waiting for the 3 PM check-in. The room was okay, and the toilet was clean. We've stayed in worse places in other countries, but for this price, the interior felt a bit too expensive. The heater needs fixing and there's no TV. In short, the place could use some renovation.

I booked for November 19 and found the room shockingly dirty. The toilet was broken and contaminated with someone else's waste, there was no hot water, and the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I strongly advise people to avoid this hotel. I've emailed several times about a refund and never received a reply. The lack of responsibility and customer service is unbelievable. I'll file complaints with the local district office and health department, and keep sharing what happened so others don't face the same problems. Please do yourself a favour and stay away.
