I don't trust this company not to rip me off, especially after reading about other people whose deposits were withheld. On the phone, customer service said I'd have to depend on my bank's anti-fraud protection if they kept my deposit fraudulently. Booking.com asks for a £300 "holding deposit" after you've already paid a non-refundable fee, and wants a second set of payment details that lets them deduct whatever amount they choose. Airbnb doesn't charge a booking fee. The booking terms feel deceptive.
We stayed for a music gig, and the location worked perfectly for us. Highbury and Islington tube station is a short walk away, and convenience stores right outside made it easy to eat in. The apartment's small kitchen had pots, pans, and eating utensils. Getting in with the door code was a hassle because communication was lacking. Once we figured out the code, it was fine.
I wouldn't stay again. We spent one night after an Arsenal game, and I wish I'd checked the Google reviews first. Complaints from months ago still haven't been fixed: the shower door, dead light bulbs, and not even a small carton of milk in the fridge. It may have been cleaned to a reasonable standard, but the apartment doesn't feel cared for.
The entry instructions and information before arrival were very clear. The place has convenient location and reasonable decor, but there's a lot to sort out. The online photos don't seem to show this two-bedroom apartment, probably the single-room one instead. There was no milk with the tea and coffee, and although there was an iron, there wasn't an ironing board. The bedside lamps had no bulbs or place to plug them in. The bathroom had mould, the shower head was broken so it couldn't be angled, and sockets were coming off the wall. Three rooms face the main road, opposite Waitrose, whose delivery at 05:00 was very noisy. A double bed is squeezed into a single space, so you have to climb into it. This place has potential, but it isn't there yet.
The place had a buzzing atmosphere, a great view, and convenient amenities nearby.
