Holiday Inn London - Kingston South

The room was spacious, with a lovely balcony, a very comfortable bed and perfect pillows. I slept really well, and parking was easy to access for an extra £10. I had a nice one-night stay, though the toilet seat hadn’t been cleaned properly, which was disappointing. Better attention to cleaning details would improve an otherwise pleasant stay.

As an IHG member, this is usually my preferred hotel, but this was one of my poorest stays. The room was clean and spacious, but that was about the only positive. Reception was painfully slow, and the person checking me in couldn’t understand my name or email. I had to enter the email on the computer myself. I asked for breakfast when prompted, but it wasn’t booked. I was staying for work, and the Wi-Fi was useless. With no real 5G signal either, it was a waste of my time. The shower tray flooded after a few minutes, turning the bathroom into a swimming pool. Rain kept landing on the shelf outside my room on level one, so the guttering must be blocked or broken. The TV remote didn’t work either. One problem after another made for a totally awful stay.

The lift was out of order for two full days, which caused serious inconvenience. Staff gave us no proper updates or sense of urgency. Housekeeping was also unacceptable: our room went uncleaned for three days in a row, and when we raised it, staff showed little interest in sorting it out. Their attitude throughout felt indifferent and unprofessional. The phone in the room didn’t work, so we couldn’t call reception when we needed help. The internet was extremely weak and unreliable, making even basic services difficult. We paid in full for our stay, but the service was consistently poor. This is advertised as a four-star hotel, yet the experience was nowhere near that standard. Poor maintenance, missing basic services and uncaring staff made our stay extremely frustrating. It honestly doesn’t deserve even one star.

The decor, food, service and management all came together to make a memorable, well-organised and enjoyable New Year’s Eve. We’d like to thank the whole Crowne Plaza team for making the celebration such a great experience. Selva, the captain, kept everything running smoothly with calm leadership and seamless coordination. Monali kept the evening lively as emcee and entertainment lead, while Nimit’s DJ mix kept the dance floor going all night. Priyanka and the serving staff were attentive, warm and professional throughout. Thanks again for helping us welcome the New Year in style. We look forward to celebrating more occasions there.
