Hyde Park Executive Apartments

The underground is very close, which was the best thing about the hotel. The rest of our one-night stay was disappointing. The room smelled unpleasant and didn't look properly cleaned. The toilet appeared to have been used and not sanitized, there were no pillows, and the window was visibly marked with bird droppings. For around £100, I expected better cleanliness and basic amenities. Those problems really affected our comfort, and I hope management takes them seriously.

The staff were friendly and helpful, though responses to maintenance requests took a while. Cleaning was slower than I expected, and some areas could use better upkeep. The washroom was small, and the shower cubicle wasn't comfortable, so having a proper shower was difficult.

The way the booking was handled made for a nightmare start. Less than a week before travelling, I was emailed to say I was being moved to a sister hotel, while my family, who were staying in the apartments, weren't moved. I walked an extra 15 minutes with heavy bags through pouring rain, only to be told the other place was full. They said the Exec Apartments were closing down, though they seem to have started up again. I was sent back through the rain and eventually checked in soaked from head to foot. I booked for the convenient location near the underground and parks, but my basement apartment was in unacceptable condition: it was dirty, the blinds were filthy, the toilet seat was broken, and the courtyard had litter and a rat poison box in view. The mattress was terrible, and I had an uncomfortable night. I then discovered the tube runs under the room, with trains thundering beneath me from 6am. I paid £231.20 through Hotels.com, and they aren't interested in my complaint. The whole experience and poor accommodation ruined my weekend with family. I recommend avoiding this place.

We were very satisfied with our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to be in central London. It's well placed between two supermarkets, with plenty of places to eat nearby. The rooms were in excellent condition, and everyone on staff, from reception to the cleaning team, was exceptionally polite and friendly.
