The building really stands out in West London, with a striking, futuristic design and modern, stylish structure. It’s an impressive addition to the skyline, and the architecture clearly had a lot of thought put into it. Some green space or an additional entrance area would make it feel more complete and welcoming. Still, it’s a great-looking building.
The staff here are friendly and helpful, and the location is really convenient, with Tesco and Sainsbury's only a minute away. The Central line is close, and the Elizabeth is about 10 minutes away. My one downside is the wind noise on windy days. It’s much quieter on a low floor than a high one. Even so, it gets 9.5/10 from me.
I found the management unreliable, often failing to follow through on promises, and maintenance support is practically nonexistent. A lift is often out of order, and it feels like collecting rent is their only interest. The polished marketing doesn’t match the poor service, and for the price it’s not worth it. It may seem appealing at first, but I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
I’m a new tenant at Icon Tower. Most of the concierge staff I’ve met are friendly, but there’s an older man who’s extremely rude and dismissive. He isn’t friendly or very helpful, and he needs customer service training on treating residents professionally regardless of their color, nationality, gender, or status. His attitude has left me disgusted and disappointed. I don’t want to see him sitting at the concierge.
We spent over two weeks in March 2024 in an Airbnb apartment at the ICON Tower in North Acton, London, UK. It’s a 54-story, toothpick-like building that sticks out like a sore thumb among the mostly low-rise buildings nearby. The location is convenient, on the Central Line, with Sainsbury Local, Tesco Express, and two Chinese grocery stores, including Tian Tian, close by. There are over 350 apartments but only 3 elevators, and they sometimes break down from heavy use. With so many Airbnb apartments in the building, the concierge could tell residents from visitors and delivery people. The apartment wasn’t cleaned well. The windows were smeared with dirt and blocked the view from the 2xth floor, and parts of the living room floor were greasy. My husband ended up cleaning the windows he could reach because the dirt bothered us so much. The worst part was dealing with the Airbnb landlord. In our opinion, the landlord falsely claimed we stained her 1-year-old marble-top coffee table and tried to extort money from us. We couldn’t even see the alleged stain in the picture she provided. We took detailed pictures before and after, and they showed no stain on the table. The landlord tried to claim the full replacement cost of her 1-year-old table from us or Airbnb. That would be like someone keying a 1-year-old car and the owner demanding enough to replace it with a brand-new car. How ridiculous. Travelers, students, and tenants should watch out for unscrupulous landlords and take detailed photos before and after their stay for their own protection and possible legal proceedings later. We noticed that some of these landlords don’t greet guests in person or provide an emergency contact mobile number. They’re likely corporate landlords who know how to game the Airbnb ecosystem at the expense of guests. Take as many detailed photos as you can. It’s sad to see Airbnb hijacked by corporate landlords and moved away from its original motto of meeting friends and exploring foreign countries.
