Lancaster Hall Hotel

It’s a quiet hotel in a decent location, and the rooms work well enough if you’re travelling light. They’re on the small side, though. I found the staff a bit defensive when we offered constructive feedback. We mentioned that many hotels store guests’ luggage for free, but here they wanted us to pay. They didn’t take the comment well. Working in a service business means hearing different opinions, so a less passive aggressive response would have gone a long way.

Breakfast was delicious, and our room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I found awkward was the sink, which has separate hot and cold taps that make it tricky to get the water temperature right. Lancaster Hall Hotel is in a lovely, peaceful neighborhood. Hyde Park is a minute away, and it’s close to Lancaster Gate and Paddington Station, so we could get out to see London and then return to a quiet area. Liliana at reception made us feel welcome, and the rest of the staff were friendly too. We’ll definitely come back.

The towels were tiny and felt rough, and the faucet was difficult to use. The water got very hot at times. Still, we had a great stay at Lancaster Hall Hotel. Sebastian at the front desk was polite and helpful when we checked in. The room was a little small, though I think that’s normal for London. The location was convenient, with two tube stations and plenty of bus stops nearby.

Breakfast is now open to people who aren’t staying at the hotel, so you can just drop in. It’s fantastic value for central London, with a recently improved spread: hot food like sausages, eggs, omelette and bacon, plus pastries, croissants, cereals, bread, Nutella, ham, cheese, tomato, cucumber, fruit, honey, yoghurt, tea, coffee and juice. The location’s great too, right by Lancaster Gate station and a minute from Hyde Park. Best of all, everyone from reception and housekeeping to the dining room is so friendly and welcoming. I really like this hotel and highly recommend it.
