Lucky 8 Hotel

The first room I checked into had two BED BUGS. I took photos and a video, then confronted the hotel staff. It was clear to me this wasn't their first BED BUG COMPLAINT. They moved me to a new room, but I found BED BUGS there too. I was bitten on my back, with three red bumps and a rash around them. When I showed staff, they asked whether I had washed my clothes and whether I’d left clothing on the floor. They tried to avoid giving a refund at any cost. They also charge a £100 deposit at check-in and say you get it back when you check out.

Dirty rooms with bed bugs, rude and annoying staff, and they ask for a 100£ deposit that they never return. This was the worst hotel ever. I’ll report the place to police and would never recommend it to anyone.

They had no rooms because of maintenance and, without asking me, sent me to a 'sister hotel' called the Park Hotel instead. It was a 2 star hotel, five minutes' drive from the place I booked, and I didn't get the Superior room I paid for at the Lucky 8. The photo here is of the actual room I got at the Park Hotel. I suspect Lucky 8 uses its name to make sales, then pushes guests into less salubrious hotels in its group. I'd be very wary of booking. I booked through Expedia and had confirmed as expected early, then their communications stopped. When I arrived, the parking space I'd booked wasn't available either. Customer service was terrible. I'm fine with a deposit by card, which is usual, but their way of not returning it directly and waiting for the bank to clear temporary holds is a joke. I wish I'd checked the recent reviews first, since lots of people described similar experiences.

I wouldn't give this a star. The girl at the counter had no idea how to speak to a guest, and they demanded a £100 deposit that the website never mentioned. The bed didn't look like the Google pictures, there was no lamp on the side table, and the lock didn't work properly. Ridiculous experience. I wouldn't tell anyone to stay here. It's been two weeks and this is my third call asking for my deposit back. Each time they say they'll release it now, but I'm still waiting. Total scam.
