Mandalay Picton House Hotel

For a budget trip, this place worked really well. It's quiet and safe, and only a two-minute walk from Paddington Station. I stayed two weeks without any problems. The owners were kind and helpful. Some of the furniture is a little old, but it was clean, and the room was very warm. I'd recommend it to people travelling on a budget.

The price is very reasonable, and I'd recommend the place and come back if I could. It's close to Paddington station and Hyde Park, with nice spots for breakfast within a five-minute walk since the hotel stopped serving it after COVID-19. Our host was lovely, and the little hotel has modern colours, big windows for light and fresh air, comfy beds, and a shower with warm water. It's not fancy, though. A few things need repair, and the pretty windows let in all the street noise. We also had a bit of an ant problem on the day we left.

For a few days in London, I think this is good value by local standards. The location is great, close to both Paddington and Hyde Park, and the staff were very kind. The room was a decent size and clean enough, though the bathroom was tiny. The bed was 1.40, not a double bed, and the thin windows let in street noise. We could hear every move from the neighbour's room, too.

It was fine for two nights. The room was clean, the staff friendly, and the shower had strong water pressure. There was no heating, just a fan to warm the room. The hotel's in a lower price bracket, and it still surprised me that UK hotels could be this basic. The location feels international.
