Mornington Crescent is a basic but clean and tidy underground station. The ticket hall is a reasonable size, with lifts, then stairs down to the platforms. It's around ten minutes from Camden Town Station and was less busy when I visited, so I found it a better option.

A pleasant station with some lovely original architecture. It's handy for Camden Town if you'd rather avoid the crowds there. There are lifts and stairs for access. Since it only serves the Charing Cross branch, it's less useful if you're coming via Bank, but that's just how the line was built.
It's a quiet station and easy to walk around and navigate. The staff are probably the most helpful and polite anywhere on the Underground.
Mornington Crescent is the star of the famous Radio 4 quiz. It's well worth seeing, above ground or below. For the underground station, the best route is the Northern line Euston branch via Tottenham Court Road.
I love the historic details here, especially the 1910s tiles, and the comedy heritage trail is a nice touch. Camden Town is about a ten-minute walk away, and Kings X takes around twenty minutes. It's a useful alternative route, too. One annoyance: A*** office staff wearing ID lanyards cut in front to fill the lift from the exit-only side. They seem not to care that this puts the lifts out of order.
