Park Grand Mayfair

The entrance feels a bit like going into a house, but this is a lovely place to stay. It's a boutique hotel compared with its parent, The Montcalm, and I got very personal service throughout. They showed me around the beautiful, well-equipped room, and even brought me complimentary coffee and water while I had online meetings in the breakfast area. A welcome, high-quality experience compared with big hotel chains. I'd recommend it.

The location is fantastic, right in the centre and convenient. The reception and service, unfortunately, were horrible. Christina, the receptionist, was rude, unfriendly, and dismissive, with none of the basic hospitality I'd expect. A real shame for a property in such a good spot.

We felt very safe, and our room was quiet. There was no view from it, but that was fine. The bed was comfortable, the room nicely appointed, and breakfast was excellent. Staff were excellent too, accommodating and quick to answer our questions.

The staff were lovely, and the small buffet breakfast was reasonable. Towels were changed every day, and you can walk to Oxford Street and Hyde Park easily. Those are the good bits. The rooms are tiny for two, and upstairs neighbours jumping around were easy to hear. Cleanliness is debatable: I have serious dust allergies and woke barely able to breathe each morning, probably because the ridge on the ceiling wasn't cleaned. The glass doors had fingerprints, the bathroom and especially the shower had seen better days, and apparently the floor isn't wiped down. Small silver tiles come off the shower wall, you have to push the drain aside for water to go down, and the fan is extremely loud whenever the light is on. There were vacuum cleaners scattered around like decor. No hotel amenities like a gym or restaurant, apart from breakfast. Way too expensive for what we got. The service and location are great, but the rest lacks and I wouldn't give it three stars. A short stay might seem charming, but I'm here longer and I'm already fed up with the shower after two days.
