Reem Hotel

We’ve always enjoyed this neighborhood, and the hotel is within walking distance of Notting Hill and Hyde Park, with good public transport connections too. Everyone was lovely and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable, though on the small side, there was still enough room to avoid stepping over our suitcases. The bathroom looked quite new and had a spacious shower. There’s hand and body wash, but no complimentary shampoo or conditioner, so bring your own. Great value for money.

I visited in an engineering capacity and was struck by how well the hotel is appointed. It’s a lovely period building, expertly run at the front of house by Shahid. The interior feels fresh, and the rooms are all great. Breakfast was magnificent, and the coffee was even better. I’ll definitely come back.

The staff were great, especially Shahid at reception. He’s a kind man and a real credit to the company. The hotel was quiet, and we felt safe. My daughter and I had a wonderful time for our birthdays. She did a lot of research before booking, and this was the best option for the price and location since we had theatre tickets. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was a little small, but we were out all the time. We recommend it and will definitely be back.

I’d stayed at this hotel before and had a good experience, which made this visit especially disappointing. I paid for a single room with a view but was given a dark basement room instead. It had a double bed that took up almost all the space, a tiny window that barely opened, no natural light, and no view. It felt claustrophobic and looked nothing like the room shown online. The hotel’s reply was essentially that they couldn’t upload pictures of every room. That doesn’t explain why a materially different basement room wasn’t clearly described or priced differently. As it happened, the listing felt misleading. I complained as soon as I checked in. Reception later said they had tried to change my room after the first night by knocking during business hours, when I was obviously at work. They had my phone number but never called or messaged me, and I had no missed calls. It felt like an excuse made afterwards to avoid responsibility. They didn’t genuinely try to resolve the problem, offer a suitable alternative, or discuss a refund. The staff were dismissive, rude, defensive, and uninterested in understanding what was wrong. Hospitality also means dealing with problems, and they failed at that. Management should train those employees, because this was frankly shocking. Recent reviews seem to describe similar complaints about misleading rooms and poor service. The walls are also so thin that there was noise outside the hotel. For what they charge, there are much better nearby options. Save your money and book somewhere else. This was one of the most misleading hotel experiences I’ve had in years, and I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.
