Riu Plaza London The Westminster Hotel

Breakfast was a bit chaotic. Glasses, cups, plates, and food kept running out, and refills weren’t quick enough. We also would have liked a bar we could use during the day. Still, the concierge and front-of-house team were fantastic, friendly, and helpful. Our room was spacious, tidy, clean, and comfortable. My husband and I were there for our anniversary, and they had left wine, chocolates, and a little Happy Anniversary card in the room. We also appreciated the complimentary upgrade as Gold members. We enjoyed our stay, and those thoughtful touches helped make it special.

It was so quiet, and I slept really well in a very clean room. The front-of-house staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room at the front of the hotel had great views over the city, and the location made it easy to reach many top attractions. I’d definitely stay again.

A bar where you could sit and have a drink in the evening, perhaps after a West End show, would have been welcome. The bed and mattress were okay, but could have been better quality. The room was quiet, with a large window where we could look at the sky and see whether it was raining. As you’d expect for a city centre hotel, it wasn’t massive, but the layout gave us separate sleeping and bathroom/dressing areas. Breakfast was fresh and high quality in a very large lounge. We hadn’t realised how busy the hotel was because the corridors and lifts were generally quiet. The location suited us. Taxis were usually right outside, or just a few minutes away during the day, though there might be a longer wait late at night. It’s a short walk to Big Ben and the river cruises. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. No major complaints.

Everything was walkable from RIU Westminster, including Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower), Westminster Abbey, and the London Eye. We stayed 7 nights and couldn’t have chosen a better location. After we came back from Paris, the staff remembered us and welcomed us warmly, which was a lovely personal touch. This was my first stay at a RIU property, and the service set the bar high. We got an upgrade, and when early check-in wasn’t available at another RIU London Palace location, they arranged and paid for a cab to Westminster. That was class. Romero was the best, give this man a raise. The rooms were comfortable and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend!
