Romany House Hotel

The owner was so friendly, and the daily service made the stay really pleasant: the bed was made, with fresh towels and new shampoo and shower gel. The location is great, around a 10-minute walk to Victoria Station and 20 minutes to Buckingham Palace. The walls are thin, though, and you can hear the floors creak upstairs and in the hall when people walk. My partner and I were fine with that because the price, service, and location were so good. We were out exploring London all day and only used the room to sleep. We’d definitely stay at the Romany Hotel again on another London city break.

I made an honest technical mistake while booking for next year and reported it to the hotel within an hour. The stay is still 12 months away, but they won’t work with me. I’ve sent two messages through the booking system, one on Monday and another on Wednesday, and have had no reply. Keeping a customer’s money for a whole year after they reported an error right away, while not even responding, feels highly unethical. There’s been no empathy or customer service, and I’m still waiting to hear back. Avoid this hotel. The communication has been completely unprofessional.

The shower mixer was unusable, giving either cold or boiling water, and water pipes made a lot of noise in the room. We’d also been given a small ground-floor room that was clearly not the room type advertised and confirmed in our booking. The door wouldn’t close properly, which felt like a security concern, so we called the manager to try to fix it. We had to stay in the room during the repair attempt, delaying our Valentine’s dinner plans. The stay didn’t match the description or standard of what we booked and paid for.

After long days exploring London, it was great to come back to a very comfortable bed. The room was small, as we expected from the pictures online, but the bathroom was a suitable size. Staff were extremely friendly and let us check in early. When checking out, we just dropped the key into a box in the corridor. The hotel is very cute and only a few minutes from Victoria Station. For London, the price was absolutely reasonable. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and most sights are walkable. I can recommend it.
