Somerset Princes Square

We planned six nights here before seeing another part of the UK, but ended up adding six more because we liked the people so much. Everyone seemed to take care of the front, back and sides of the “Establishment”. They’re kind-hearted and hard-working, and there’s staff around 24/7 to help. Naraa is the best day shift manager in the area, and you’ll definitely meet her. I went downstairs for breakfast to be around people, even though you can order it to your room. I had three breakfasts despite not being a breakfast person. The chef doesn’t need my review to prove how good he is. Eggs really can taste that delicious, there’s a technique to it, which we’ll get into later 🤣. The staff are so present you can wave at the air and someone will appear. I wish they served other meals too. I’m certain the chef and his team could do fine dining. Maybe I’ll come back when shepherds pie is a special, I’d eat it for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, even as a cold snack 🤣. My stay was amazing. We were pleasantly surprised that the buffet breakfast included a full English and other choices. The only disappointment was the lack of marmalade pots among the jams. Paddington wouldn’t have been happy, and neither was my wife. There are also three nice pubs on the way to the stations, and I’d suggest the hotel improve the security of its left luggage space. We stayed two nights for a theatre trip. The location is handy, with Bayswater and Queensway stations both an easy walk away. Staff were friendly, helpful, polite and efficient throughout. Our room was clean, warm and functional, if not large, and it was adequate for us. The small, compact bathroom met our needs too. We’d stay again and recommend it.

The hotel might work for one person, but it didn’t for two. I spent three nights in London on holiday and ended up sleeping on the floor because the double bed wasn’t big enough for both of us. They promised a second blanket that day, but never brought one because they said none were available, even though Booking.com still showed plenty of rooms open.

The location is excellent, within walking distance of cafes, stores and Underground stations. The rooms felt outdated and there wasn’t much of a view. Salman, who was on the night shift, was the saving grace. He gave great service and handled all our requests with ease. Top-tier front desk.
