The optional service charge at checkout was the one thing that left me disappointed. I paid it, but I’d rather see it included in the advertised rates. Paying staff properly shouldn’t be optional or depend on how generous guests happen to be in a given month. Their take-home pay should be consistent. Otherwise, I had a very good stay at this high-end hotel near Liverpool St. Broadgate Circle has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops just a few minutes away, and there’s lots more around the City and Shoreditch. My room was comfortable, with a great bed, good lighting, a minibar with good teabags, and a well-equipped bathroom. I enjoyed the downstairs spaces too, especially the cocktails in the bar and a delicious duck salad for lunch. Staff were helpful and professional throughout. My husband stayed here another time and rated it highly as well.

Daria & Simona had decorated our room beautifully, and Luca showed us up to it. We were celebrating my birthday with friends, and Anhelina greeted us with wonderful service and offered welcome drinks, a lovely touch. From the moment we arrived, the experience was fantastic. I’d happily recommend it.

We found the Kuryakin Room’s large round table good for inclusive conversation, though the space felt a little tight during the initial welcome drinks. Having arrivals use the adjacent members’ club could make for a smoother start. Planning also took more follow-up from us than usual, and service on the night had a few small inconsistencies, including wine being overpoured. For a B2B agency like ours at Ortus, the bold, energetic look set a professional tone. Its City location gave guests easy access to transport hubs, which helped with retention and let networking continue well into the evening. The kitchen was impressively flexible with last-minute dietary changes, and the team kept to the timings remarkably well.

The team’s warm, smiling service stood out every day. The rooms were spacious and well equipped, with good Wi-Fi, so it was a comfortable base in London. South Place Hotel is right by Liverpool Street station, with easy connections around the city and suburbs. There are some great restaurants in the hotel and other good options within walking distance, plus shops, leisure and other spots nearby. I was genuinely impressed with my stay.
