The kitchens are modern and roomy, though the bedrooms feel cramped and haven't been renovated recently. It's a great location, but Beit and Eastside are about the same distance away and I think they're better. This also seems to be the strictest of the imperial halls, with the common room closing at 10pm.
It's a handy place, and sometimes you can get a pretty good price. Just be prepared for a long wait if you book when it's cheap and busy. The student part-time staff can struggle to keep things moving, and checking in and getting a key can take hours. That lower price may cost you a lot of time, so come with time to spare.
The staff were kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean and pleasant. We stayed in summer while the students were on break. The lift was a big help, and the location was great, very close to the tube.
A simple, clean place at a good price, with what you need for a family or young people visiting London. It's well located, with a nice garden nearby and restaurants and bars not far away. South Kensington tube stations are also close.
I was among the last students to live in the old building, back when it was called the Selkirk and Tizzard Halls, just before the big refurbishment. I missed out on the new ultra-modern building, but it's nice to know I was one of the last there. For studying at Imperial College, the convenience was hard to beat: I could get up just 20 minutes before a lecture, shower, and still make it on time. My lectures were in the Huxley building at the other end of campus, in the mathematics department, so I had a whole extra minute to walk. Pun intended.
