The bed was comfortable with clean, crisp linen, and the location was good. The shower worked fine and had plenty of hot water. But the hotel was dated and in obvious need of renovation: shabby carpets and furniture, plus lights that didn't work in my room. There were lots of stairs, too, so it wouldn't suit guests with health or mobility issues. I was told at arrival that breakfast wasn't available, despite the online photos showing a breakfast room. In the room there were coffee sachets but no tea bags or spoons. It's very basic and just about okay for one budget night. The place is advertised as three stars, but I'd say one or two at most.

There were five flights of stairs and no lift, which was a lot, especially with heavy bags. The room itself was simple and a little cramped for three people, but manageable for a short visit. Given the affordable price, it was acceptable as long as you don't expect too much. The location is great for getting around the city.

The staff were pleasant and kind, and that's about the only good thing I can say. For £450+ for three rooms for one night, what we found was awful. I've stayed in more than 80 hotels over the years, and these were the worst rooms I've had. Online photos look like they were taken when the place first opened; now the rooms look like they're from the 80s. If you want to support nice people, stay here. If you expect a room worth more than £30 a night, avoid it. I genuinely hope this helps someone else. We paid for three rooms. They were all incredibly tiny, with about two feet of space around the bed, but we only needed somewhere to sleep, so the size wasn't a big deal. The top-floor room smelled strange and had a cracked window. Its stairs felt like a deserted building, carpeted but slanted, creaky and wobbly. Another room had a cracked double mirror wardrobe, missing carpet, floor stains, paint-stained curtains, old bedside lamps, and a mirror blocking a socket. It had one cup despite being a double room. The bathroom had mould and a toilet coming loose from the floor. The pillows were so thin they were almost pointless, and the shower felt like it came from Temu. The ground-floor room was small too, with two single beds right next to each other. The wall-mounted TV looked like it was hanging on by a thread.

The room I was assigned was inaccessible for my respiratory condition. I booked through Booking.com, and on arrival I immediately asked to move to a lower-level room with a double bed, twin setup, or two single beds that I could safely access. The staff member I spoke to laughed dismissively and walked away without offering an alternative. Booking.com later told me the property had refused a refund. I emailed nearly two weeks ago about the room and my refund request, but despite being invited to correspond by email, I still haven't received a substantive reply. When the property finally did respond, it said, “we always help folk that are nice to us,” with a smile emoji. That was deeply hurtful and unprofessional when I was asking for reasonable accommodation under the Equality Act or applicable disability-rights legislation. I've informed several disability advocacy organizations, local media outlets, and travel-industry press. I'm not trying to unfairly tarnish the property's reputation, but I do want to highlight the need for proper staff training and sensitivity with disabled guests. To resolve this amicably, I asked for a full refund of the affected nights, a written apology acknowledging the inadequate service and staff conduct, and confirmation of any policy changes or staff training to prevent this happening again, all within seven days. Without a constructive reply in that time, I'll pursue further action through consumer-protection agencies and advise future travellers. I hope we can find a fair solution, and I'm available to discuss it. Thank you for prompt attention to this serious matter.

The room felt like a storage closet, and there was dust everywhere with an unvacuumed floor. A cupboard door was missing, the hairdryer didn't work, and hot water came and went, making a proper shower difficult. Noise came through the poor sound insulation, and the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The service added to an already unpleasant stay. It was a terrible experience from start to finish, a waste of money, and I won't return or recommend the OYO St. Georg Hotel.
