The main selling point is the location, right opposite Portobello Road in Notting Hill, with handy public transport nearby. We had a basement apartment that worked fine for a couple of days when we mainly needed somewhere to sleep. It was humid and collected quite a bit of dust. Air circulation was limited because it’s underground, though there’s an opening window by the entrance, and the dehumidifier helped somewhat. The kitchen is basic but has what you need for a short stay. We had no Wi-Fi problems, despite what some other reviews say. I’d recommend it for a short visit, especially since it was one of the more affordable choices in the area during high season.

We reported the heating problem during our stay, and maintenance eventually came to switch it off. The room became more comfortable after that, but it happened near the end, so most of our nights were affected. The heating seemed to be running with no way to control it from inside the apartment. For the first three nights we had the window open and the fan running all night to cope, which made things noisy. The building was quiet, especially on the upper floor, and the apartment was clean with straightforward access. The location is good too. Fixing the heating controls would have made the stay much more comfortable.

Right by Portobello Market and only 300 meters from the Subway. One of the best places we've found.
