The Aldgate Flats

The hosts showed little concern after we arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning and found the flat had been broken into. Our electronic goods, plus a purse with a bank card and ID, had been stolen. My partner and I had booked three nights, but because of major safety issues we could only stay one. We had to find other accommodation, and the hosts refused to refund us. I’m still shaken up and shocked that they won’t deal with the situation. After we called at 1AM to report the burglary, the hosts spoke to us vilely and demanded that we “not leave a bad review.” They later angrily said they wouldn’t contact the police. We arranged for the police to come, but the landlords weren’t there to let them in, and they left us to file the report ourselves. The landlords completely disregarded our safety and refused to cooperate with police. As landlords, they are liable for their guests’ safety. This flat is completely unsafe and clearly inadequate for housing guests. The landlords were even less adequate in how they handled what happened. Awful. Do not stay here.
