The hotel's location is the highlight: it's right across from the tube station, in a safe, beautiful part of South Kensington with plenty of good food nearby. It's a beautiful hotel, and we'd highly recommend it and definitely return. We were there for my birthday, and Rajesh was very accommodating. The rooms are small, as is common in Europe, but clean and had what we needed. We arrived early and left our bags safely at the desk while we waited. I called four times before the trip to ask about early check-in, sometimes waking up at 4am EST to sort it out. On the last call, someone said they'd noted the request and that we'd be charged extra, which we were fine with. Unfortunately, when we arrived, that hadn't worked out and the room wasn't ready. We left our bags and went exploring, then came back later. Despite that hiccup, the location gets 11/10 from me.
Getting around was easy from this hotel, with the Piccadilly and Circle/District lines right outside. We used the Piccadilly line to and from LHR without trouble, and Tesco across the street was handy for snacks. The room had free bottled water, a ref, and a nespresso. Our rooms were comfortable and spacious for London, especially the family room with two double beds. Breakfast was a great start to the day, with excellent food and service. Tiegiest was a fantastic, attentive server. We'd stay again.
The room felt homey, with large windows, and was spacious, air conditioned, and had a large-screen TV and small refrigerator. The double family room also had US/UK outlets, very comfortable beds and comforter, and a generously sized bathroom with a great shower, strong water pressure, and a towel warmer. Housekeeping kept it immaculately clean. Julia made checkout effortless, and Rajesh at the front desk was accommodating. The Baileys was a lovely old-world hotel and a perfect base for our week in London. The South Kensington location is excellent, across from Gloucester Road tube station, with District/Central/Piccadilly lines for easy travel from Heathrow and elsewhere. There are great restaurants and a fully stocked Waitrose across the street. From the moment we arrived, the concierge greeted us warmly and was very helpful. Special thanks to Daria, who worked hard to check us in early. Looking forward to coming back to Bailey’s.
You really can't beat the location, right across from the tube station. The bar on the first floor was lovely, and we had a nice time there. The greeting staff were great and helped us get a few cabs. They also gave us an extra hour at checkout, which was nice. We found the beds very uncomfortable. They're extra firm, which meant we slept poorly, though I know that's personal. There was also quite a bit of noise, maybe from the bar or another room; I'm not sure. Luckily, our white noise machine helped. I was surprised the front desk didn't have a power adapter to lend when I realized I'd brought the wrong one. Other four- or five-star hotels I've stayed at have offered that, sometimes for a deposit. I also called the desk about checkout but got no answer. We took our bags downstairs, dealing with steps from the third floor and the small elevator while managing kids and rolling suitcases, only to learn we didn't need to check out yet and had to go back up. The bathroom was tiny, and the room was small too. There was no luggage rack and barely any drawer space, so with two adults and two kids our suitcases stayed on the floor. The room looked worn, with marks on the ceiling and walls.
The Bailey’s Hotel London Kensington has a charming heritage feel, with classic architecture and elegant interiors that give it a real sense of British history. If you like traditional style and historic surroundings, you'll enjoy it. My room was clean, spacious, and peaceful, with a very comfortable bed for resting after sightseeing. The attention to detail showed the hotel's high standards. The location in the heart of Kensington is fantastic, just a short walk from Gloucester Road Station and convenient for exploring London. The staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help. Special thanks to Gary for his professionalism and kindness throughout our stay. Honestly, it deserves five stars and more. I highly recommend this comfortable, elegant, historically charming hotel.
