The Chamberlain Hotel

The Chamberlain has a lovely feel, and we slept beautifully in the very comfortable bed. The staff were wonderful and helpful, and the location is excellent. I really enjoyed staying here, but I expected the room to match the more luxurious impression given by the website. We could hear people talking and walking past because the walls are thin. The ill-fitting door frame let hallway light in and added to the noise. The bathroom had so little soundproofing that privacy was a real concern. The room was generally clean, though the walls and wooden furniture needed a more thorough dusting. We were also disappointed to find a shower instead of the bathtub promised in our booking confirmation and on the website. With those maintenance and quality issues addressed, the hotel could live up to what its lovely setting and bedding suggest.

The breakfast was superb, freshly cooked, and the chef did a great job. Check-in was great too, and everything was clean and modern. I got one of the inside rooms, though, and it was dark and smelled a little damp. They offered a free drink at the ground-floor bar, which was a nice touch. Honestly, this place isn't far off being a great hotel at a good price.

The beds are small, and the toppers seemed slightly too small for them, making a slope that left us feeling like we might fall out. We both ended up with back ache from sleeping awkwardly. Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and plenty of staff. After breakfast, the staff sat at tables beside guests to eat and use their phones. They deserve a chance to sit down, but a more tucked-away table might work better. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern and luxurious. The rooms are small but have what you need for a few nights exploring the city. The staff were wonderful overall, and we'd definitely return.

Delicious shortbread and a Nespresso machine were replenished in the room each day. The room was clean and quiet, and the staff were really nice and helpful. The hotel is in a great spot near the Tower of London and loads of good restaurants.
