The Kirkdale Hotel

The only good thing about this place is that it’s close to the city. I paid for a spa week with breakfast, but the manager refused to provide what I’d paid for and lied to me. I got one boiled egg on just one of the seven mornings, and even that was handled in the rudest way. My shower kept failing. One morning, staff said a maintenance person would come at 5pm, then completely forgot about me. Hours later, the manager told me nobody had been informed and no specialist was coming, and that he only needed to switch on the boiler. I’d waited eight hours to find out whether I was moving rooms or someone would fix the shower, and I couldn’t shower all day. Nobody apologised or made it right. The bathroom curtain was broken and the whole place was filthy. I work in a hotel, and I’ve never seen staff be so disrespectful and dishonest without consequences. I’ve never stayed in a more awful hotel.

I was very disappointed when I walked in. The curtains were torn and the carpet was dirty, despite the pictures making the place look clean and nice. I don’t think you read the reviews, or why not fix the complaints? I’ll never check in at Kirkdale again.

The en suite was filthy, and there was so much mould in the shower that it couldn’t be used. The lounge was just as bad, with every armchair either badly stained or threadbare, plus a spare mattress propped up in the room. The hotel is disgusting and could do with a visit from environmental health. I’d never recommend it to anyone.

I couldn’t sleep at all because of the creaky floorboards and loud doors. The staff were rude as hell, and there was no customer service. This place was absolutely disgusting, one of the worst I’ve been to. Even one star feels generous, and I don’t recommend it.
