Jason was great at check-in and shared useful local dinner tips. We were catching a train to Scotland the next morning, so the hotel right across from Kings Cross was very convenient. The suite worked perfectly for us travelling with a teenager. And the shower might be the best one I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
What I’ll remember most about the Megaro is Chiara’s kindness. She listened with real empathy and sent me off with a warm smile. She asked about my visit to Kew Gardens, which I’d badly underestimated in size and distance from Kings Cross. I couldn’t enjoy it because my mobility is so limited and painful, and she was genuinely sorry to hear that. The walk from the tube and the distance from the gate to the Orchid display were much longer than I expected. It made me think mobility scooter hire, like e-bike hire outside key stations, would help, Mr Mayor! I nearly didn’t make it back, but the staff’s kindness helped. I’d asked for a bath instead of a shower, and they arranged one. I’ve stayed in plenty of London rooms with baths that were too small for my six-foot frame, too shallow, cold, or some combination of those. The bath at the Megaro was huge and deep, almost like a swimming pool, and the water was properly hot. It eased my spinal and hip pain enough to get me ready to catch my train to Leeds the next day. The room suited me well too. I hate the cold and can’t sleep if a room isn’t warm, and the heating here actually worked. It was very clean, with more than enough complimentary items. As a Yorkshire lad, I didn’t expect the Megaro Larger to taste so good, a bonus. There were a couple of minor drawbacks. There was no luggage rack, which made it painful to sort through my case on the floor. I’m registered disabled and would rather sit on a chair than put luggage on the bed. The shower pressure also seemed weak when I turned it on, perhaps because the head was too big for it, though I didn’t use it. Jason checked me in efficiently and kindly, and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff’s thoughtfulness meant a lot to me.
Everything went smoothly, from check-in through checkout, thanks to staff who were genuinely warm and ready to help. The rooms were comfortable, thoughtfully laid out, and well equipped. I liked the complimentary chips and drinks, a welcoming little touch. At The Megaro Hotel, King’s Cross, the location is hard to beat, right opposite the station.
Stella at reception arranged a generous breakfast to take with us for our early flight, and both the breakfast and service were great. Our signature design room had fun, quirky decor and came with a Nespresso machine, minibar, and free water replenished each day. The location is handy, directly across from King’s cross station and its many tube and rail connections. At night and early morning, there can sometimes be homeless people camped around the corner, and we saw rubbish left behind before it was cleared in the morning. We never felt unsafe. A great stay overall.
The little touches made the place feel luxurious, and the location was perfect. Jason and Chiara deserve a special mention for being helpful in every way and going above and beyond. My fiancée and I loved our three days so much that this is our London hotel now. We’ve already booked to return over the bank holiday weekend.
