I reckon you could spend about two hours wandering here and soaking up the atmosphere. Portobello Road Market is busy and full of energy, with all sorts of shops to poke around in. There are loads of jewelry and accessory stalls, especially costume and silver pieces like earrings and necklaces, along with decorative items that may particularly appeal to women. You'll also find plenty of street food and pubs to stop for a drink. The colorful buildings along the road are iconic and give the area its own charm.

We enjoyed our Saturday morning visit in early Jan 2026, though the market doesn't really get going until around 9-9:30am at the earliest, even if you arrive early. The vintage section was the best part, with plenty of interesting things to see. The main road was already packed in the morning, so if it's that busy in January, I imagine it's even busier at other times. Still, we had a good time, and it's worth seeing at least once.
I love coming to Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill. You can wander, shop, grab a bite or try the street food, and the colorful traditional houses make the whole visit more enjoyable. It's one of the area's main attractions.
A sunny weekday can still bring quite a crowd, but getting here is easy by metro or on foot. There's food and clothing from all over the world to explore, so it's definitely worth a visit.
Even when the market isn't running, the road itself is interesting to walk along. In the charming residential neighborhood of Notting Hill, you'll find a mix of touristy and local shops, places to eat and temporary stalls. Fun to experience, and highly recommended.
