Our room at the back, looking over the common, was lovely and quiet, even though this is a busy pub and restaurant. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty in the honesty bar, plus coffee, water, glasses, an iron and board, and a safe. Reception were friendly and helpful. The decor felt a bit tired, and all the floors could use a deep clean. Service was a little unpredictable, but the food was excellent and worth waiting for. We had dinner and two breakfasts, and the ingredients were super quality. I’d happily stay again.

The food is great, the atmosphere and surroundings are really nice, and they pour a lovely Guinness. Their homemade sausage rolls are absolutely bang on. For a roast, the meat comes from The Ginger Pig, and you can really taste the quality. I’ve been a local here my whole life, and it’s still got the same feel and standards, while the service has just kept getting better. I’m a regular and can’t recommend it highly enough. A proper local and a real gem, lovely in summer and perfect on a cold winter’s day.

We had a lovely Sunday roast with friends at the windmill, and I hope to book earlier next time so we can sit on the brighter side. It’s a splendid place to spend time with friends or your partner. The service was exceptional, especially given that it was the new waiter’s first day. A beautiful experience coming back.

The food choices were excellent, just right for a hearty, tasty lunch, and the service was great despite how busy it was. We came for a lovely birthday lunch with our children and grandchild, and really liked the ambience and decor. Tom deserves a mention for the attention to detail and for making sure our grandson was well looked after.

The roast was really good, a 10/10, and the dessert portion was just right. The crumble was a little too hard, and service was slightly slow, so I took off a star. The staff were lovely, though, very pleasant and accommodating. A very good meal all round, and I’ll return!
