The Z Hotel Victoria

The daily cheese plate and glass of wine were included and very good. Breakfast costs extra, but the one morning we ate there, it was much better than most hotel breakfasts. Service was friendly, and the location was central to everything we wanted to do in London. Our room was clean, but very small. The bed was comfortable yet small, with three sides against the walls. Since there were two of us, I had to climb over my wife or wake her up whenever I needed to get up at night for the bathroom. This is a great hotel overall, but that bed tucked into an alcove was inconvenient for sharing. Without that issue, I’d have given it five stars.

The room was warm and lovely, just what I needed during a very cold spell in London. The staff were really friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. It was good value, with the train station and Buckingham Palace close by. I had a great stay and will come back.

Being able to get around London so easily was a big plus, and the price felt competitive for this area. Z Victoria is almost around the corner from Victoria station, yet the street itself is a little quieter despite the busy neighborhood. The rooms are small, so keep that in mind, but ours was clean and well furnished. For a cheap place to sleep for a night, I’d recommend it.

The staff were really lovely and helpful, and it was handy to leave my bags there on checkout day. I paid £20 for an early check-in. The hotel is right across from Victoria station, though you can feel the Underground rumbling underneath it, and the lift doors take an annoyingly long time to open and close. My room was tiny but worked perfectly for one person, and I think two could manage too. It had no window, which didn’t bother me. The bed was very comfy, the WiFi was strong, and there was Sky TV. The bathroom doesn’t offer much privacy if you’re sharing, but the shower was powerful and hot. The air conditioning was noisy, though it made a steady sound that I eventually tuned out. It was just right for my two-night stay.
